The apple and pear trees looked so lovey yesterday. Even a little chilly they looked good,, This morning wind rain and snow 33 feels like 25. I think my apple press might be an exercise in futility

Skeets, that same thing happen to me last year. Trees were in full bloom by mid February, then a good snow storm came through at the beginning of March. Not one nectarine on the two trees. And the apple tree that usually is loaded top to bottom had 6 apples on it

If 33 was the low and you had some rain with it and the bloom didn't get knocked all off you may be ok. It will depend a little on the variety. I'm dreading the same here tonight in Central Ohio. Just finished a fungicide application... thinking positive!

Skeets - I know you've tended an orchard for many years, but isn't it still a little early for a season-ending snow/wind/freeze?

Of course, I'm farther north. Syrup guys just wrapped up this week, and my red maples aren't even blossomed yet....:(:(

Same out here. The weather is certainly warmer than out there but we had two wind storms back to back and half of our Ocotillo buds blew off. And, it vacuumed off most of the buds on my fruit trees...
Oh well, there's always next year.

Addition: For those of you wondering what an Ocotillo is... These two are on the back side of my barn.

Here's the buds up close. Pull the pistels out of the flower and it tastes super sweet. No wonder the hummingbirds love these things...
