I recently bought a non-running L245DT tractor with a L1700 loader and a K650 backhoe. I'm an auto mechanic with limited knowledge about tractors but the tractor now runs well and the loader works at good speed and lifting capacity. The problem is when I want to raise the bucket only slightly and the lever is moved slowly, the bucket will drop before going up. All fluids and filters have been replaced and are at correct levels. Is there any adjustment in the valve body? Also the pto driven pump on the backhoe has a broken housing. I have the manual but it doesn't list the pressure and volume specs. I see I can buy the original pump for around $550 but I'm looking for less expensive options. Thanks for any advice.

I'm assuming you mean the FEL bucket not backhoe bucket- if so, it sounds like it's the float function. Mine (B219) is at the far end of the travel, but I have heard of setups that have the float function at the start of travel.

Yes it's the FEL but I feel a detent at the full down position that I think is the float position so that shouldn't be the problem. Thanks.

There are devices in the loader valve called "load checks" that are supposed to stop that from happening. I am not familiar enough with the valve to know if they are replaceable, perhaps someone like NIW can post a breakdown for the valve body.
