Hydraulic Pump Issue

I recently purchased a B7100 HST and I believe it has a hydraulic pump issue. While lifting an implement, in this case a blade, it makes whats sounds like a grinding noise. It will lift it just fine but I do not think the sound is normal. The previous owner had it serviced right before I purchased. Question is, has anyone had a similar issue and how easy is it to remove and take apart the pump to inspect for any damage? I prefer to work on my own and the dealer is several miles away. Any help is appreciated. Are there any hydraulic pump diagrams online?

Tx,
Bill

It normal on this model to gear a growling noise while lifting as its just a noisy setup.

Are you only hearing the noise while it's lifting then when lifted the noise goes away or it the noise there the whole time even after it's up?
Are you sure the noise is coming from the front (pump) and not the rear (relief valve)?
Air being sucked into the system will make the pump sound bad, so check all connections on the large suction pipe for weeping leaks.

If it is the pump, your options are very limited, Replacement is about the only option as there isn't rebuild parts available for purchase in normal channels.

The noise only occurs when engaging the lift. A small window where you are can actually feel it in the lever. It does not do this when I lower the implement, just while raising. I Was afraid my blade was too heavy. Tried a lighter one and it does the same thing.

Noting NIW's expert diagnosis, if you are mechanically proficient and want to follow this up further I offer the following.
While pump parts are limited or unavailable through normal sources, the internal orings and shaft seals are available if needed for all the B7100 pumps from Coleman or other vendors. Parts breakdowns are shown at http://www.kubota.com/part/partsList.aspx

Depending on the noise, it may be worth checking the pump drive gear for rigidity/fixing to the pump shaft to ensure correct alignment and that there is no axial play.
As NIW also mentioned, relief valves can be noisy as well, pressure settings are available in the workshop manual here
http://www.kubotabooks.com/AutoIndex/index.php?dir=Tractor%20Owners%20Manuals/&file=B7100HST_WSM_complete.pdf
It may also be worth checking the inlet strainer to the hydraulic pump pickup, in case it wasn't done when(IF?) the oil was changed. Also consider replacing the orings to negate suction air entry as noted by NIW, as well as the orings on the pump inlet, and the hose and clamps midway in the inlet pipe.

If it's lifting it it probably doesn't have any problem at all.

Take a video of it in action and post it on You Tube and give us a link to watch it and listen to it. ;)
