Is there a difference in hydraulic fluid from the manufacturer (i.e. Kubota UDT) and the a fluid that is says it meets the original manufacturer specifications?

You already know my opinion from your other thread.

I'll let others chime in with their knowledge and experience.

Think of it as High Quality Hydraulic Fluid being cheap insurance. Parts, down time and poorly functioning machinery is $$$$$$$$$$

If you own machinery it is going to cost you something sooner or later. How much and how often you do have some say in. Spending more $$$ now on fluids and lube will save you $$$$$$$$$$ in the long run.

Just my 2 cents.

I agree with this! I only use Kubota fluids. Except for engine oil I use Rottella synthetic 5W40. Which I put in everything, including my trucks and wife's mini van.

As far as Hydraulic fluid goes I only use Kubota Super UDT2. I also only use original factory equipment filters.

I'd much rather spend a few extra bucks now than spend more money later and have time wasted fixing a problem! My time is expensive. I have enough to keep me busy without fixing broken stuff because I tried to save a few dollars!

My 2 cents

Yeah it's tempting to go to TSC and get 5 gallons for $35, it says it will work right on the bucket. Will it work, yes it will. The real question is will your tractor perform as it should or have the same level of pertection? That's a big fat NO. The hydraulics will run hot in the summer, whine, chatter and jerk. In the winter everything suffers, steering is slow and stiff, same with the loader and 3pt.

I see you have a M8540 listed so that's at least a $40K + investment. My question to you is this, 10 or 15 yrs from now do you want a piece of scrap metal or do you want a fully functional tractor that works as it should? That's the difference between cheap fluid and quality fluid, protect your investment. JMHO

Yeah - even me being the new guy been down this road.

Without a doubt, Kubota SUDT2 and Kubota filters, both hydro and engine oil filters.

On the other hand, I've been using Rotella 15W40 engine oil. May switch to synthetic in the future - not sure yet.

Still Have Shuttle Problems

Just changed hydraulic oil and filters used Kubota UTD fluid tractor still is doing the same thing. It will go foward until it gets warm and then it will not move foward. But it always will go in reverse any, gear any range. Has anybody had this problem. Could shuttle valve be bad? Shuttle cable streched? Looks to me like the valve works like a valve on for a remote hook up. The cable hooks to rocker arm that work a stem in the valve. A new shuttle valve is about $1,400.00 so I am trying to eliminate evey possiblity before I go that route. Also this did not start after a fluid change it just started sorta all at on once I keep fluid and filters changed frequently every 300-400 hours at least once a year. I do alot of work using remotes and the tractor is in alot of rough environments (coal mines doing re-vegetation work, discing, etc.). So i do try to keep things running as best i can.

Re: Still Have Shuttle Problems

With the engine off can you get to the rocker to see if it will manually engage further than it will with the shifter?
