Hydraulic filter service

On my L3901 I change both hydraulic filters every 200 hours.
Change fluid every 400 hours.
I noticed a bit of sludge on the magnetic inside the one filter.
seem normal?

200 on hydraulic oil.

I have seen that kind of build up on filters on tractors that had eight or ten thousand hours on them but not on tractors with 400 on the tractor and 200 on the oil. I have way north of two thousand hours on my MX6000 and never seen that kind of build up on the filters when I change them or any on the plugs when I have changed the hyd oil. Might want to show that to the dealer.

What what type of oil are you using?
Are you adding any additives especially friction modifiers to your oil?
High temperatures (overheeating) or moisture ( lots of short runs uses in high humidity or big temperature variations) can cause that kind of sludge to happen, especially when around things like high zinc levels.
Could any of this be your situation?

Kubota UDT2 only.
Tractor is used far northern Minnesota spring summer and fall (no winter use)
Very little idling around.
Mostly used at PTO RPM’s

I don’t bother trying to save/conserve old hydraulic oil with filter changes. Just let it drain and put in new fluid with the new filters. New oil is cheaper than a new tractor.

I’ve seen that magnet buildup on my L3301HST (now@1650hrs) each time I’ve changed out that filter—a little bit less each time. Every maintenance has been done on Kubota’s recommended intervals, and have never had any issues.
