I have new L3901HST with about 10 hours on it.

There is a relatively loud and annoying whining noise that I believe is coming from the transmission while driving.

It seems to be louder when the tractor is under a load, like going up hill.

I am hoping someone will tell me this will go away once I get a few more hours on it.

Use the 'search' feature. Must be at least a hundred threads on that on here.

As far as I know it won't go away. It is supposed to get quieter with use. I've read on the forum that the newer Kubota hydraulic fluid (SUDT-2?) Is supposed to do wonders for reducing the whine. On my tractor it seems to be worst in high rangel

One thing to try is putting it in a lower range.

I drained my fluid during the highly-debated 50 hour service. Noticeable reduction in whine, and it got less noisy still in the next change....just for what it's worth.

Thanks for the feedback and advice. I guess at the 50 hour service, I will hope for the best.
If I understood his post correctly, he replaced the filter and FLUID at his 50 hour. Replacing the fluid isn't required, if you want to emulate his "fix" you'd have to do more than just the minimum 50 hour.

Like the others have said, its normal. I almost couldn't stand our BX23s when we first got it, but a few hundred hours later I didn't notice it as much...It seems like the HST tractors I have had in the past do get quieter as the hours add up and a few oil change cycles.

Your post reminds me of a long thread on TBN about how to reduce hst whine. Apparently a lot of guys had good success reducing the whine by filling the lower half of the ROPS with some kind of insulation material - forget exactly what they were using. Supposedly the hollow ROPS transmits or amplifies the noise. Never got around to trying it on my BX so can't vouch for it.

Nobody has come up with a solution to this, yet? :(

Normal, well?!?!?!

No additive or anything?

In my cab B2650 it is quite annoying to need hearing protection, even double protection.

So why provide a radio, to drowned out the noise? :D

Maybe it’s from the machining chips that are periodically found in the filter that haven’t made their way out yet. :)
