I noticed that the pedal damper was disconnected - appears that the clip fell off. When trying to replace it, I fully depressed the pedal but the damper did not quite line up with the hole. My instinct was to bang it in with a hammer - but thought better of it. One thing that concerned me is that to get it close (as shown in the picture) the pedal was fully depressed- maybe not good - maybe good?

I reviewed the shop manual re checking and adjusting the neutral but the pin is so close I think I am missing something. The pictures in the manual are not clear (very grainy), so it is hard to see what should be done. Hopefully, a simple solution? Bang it in with a hammer?

Your help is appreciated.

Is the damper functional? It should extend and retract smoothly but with even resistance throughout. The damper is not a spring. It adds resistance to the pedal motion but should not stop it from returning to center.

So I should be able to pull it a longer and compress it shorter? Did not feel like it's pliable but I'll see today. If I can pull it a little longer - should I push the pin the hole and clip it in?
