I have a steady, slow dripping leak from what appears to be a point near the HST fluid inspection bubble near the left foot rest on my 2007 L2800 HST. I haven't yet attempted to remove the orange tranny 'hump' between the pedals to get to this, but here are two pictures taken from underneath the tractor [sorry, taken quickly in the dark!]. If you look carefully, you can see where the fluid drips down. Its a pain to get my tractor to the dealer, so I'm looking for help to do this myself. First, how do I remove the 'hump' cover to get to this? Any good guesstimates as to the hose or fitting that might be leaking? Is there a .pdf diagram or other instruction on line, with part numbers or hose/fitting types, to help educate me and git'er done? Thanks, nice site you got here!

I'm following the B series 'tranny leak - from the top!' thread for some additional info, and have reviewed the Merricks parts diagrams. I'll get the tractor in the garage soon and get better pix. Like the B series HST leak, I think mine is coming from the top, dripping down the left side of the casing in front of where the clutch rod enters the case, though not from the fill level gauge/window on my L series ... any advice appreciated!
Looked at it again. The leak, fortunately I suppose, is from the UDT fluid level 'bubble' gauge, which is loose. I'll look for the replacement part [the gasket/fitting on the bubble, which is loose]. Anyone ever replace one of these and either know the part no. or f there is a jury-rigged temporary 'fix' while I wait for the part, for example, a substitute gasket? Thanks!
Congrat's on finding the leak source. You could probably make your own new gasket from stock materiel they sell at auto stores. It's an option.
Well if it's the same part 3 as my L3010 it comes as a kit with the sight glass and the o-ring seal together. Last year it was about $10-11.00. Not that big of a deal to replace, it just pushes into place and is held by the o-ring.

Mine is loose, I think my o-ring is blown. I have ordered a replacement glass & o-ring. While waiting for the part, I'll pull it out and see if I can't get a matching o-ring from the local NAPA as a temporary fix so I can get some Marshall rye and cool season grass mix in one turn-out section before the rains next week. Thanks to all for your support and advice!
I thought I would post a follow-up. Yes, its the sight-glass and rubber washer/gasket [not an o-ring]. The problem was the clear plastic threaded lens, one piece - it had cracked clear through along the washer seat. Perhaps it was overtightened at manufacture and took 50 hrs of vibration to crack through - given the protected location, I can't imagine anything else. Interestingly, the replacement is gray plastic threaded with only a clear lens in the middle with a white frame backing, a sturdier piece of work than the original. If you have an L, I suggest you pull yours out [remove the cover over the tranny hump to get to it] and check it out - if you have the old clear plastic, probably worth replacing with the sturdier version coincident to Tranny service ...
