My bush hog digs a trench in pasture when I turn. Will the float stop this?

Your three point always floats?
There is no special settings.

If the trail wheel is digging in you need to look at it's adjustment and how easily it pivots.

It is probably the front corners (skids) that are digging in on turns. Just raise the deck an inch or two and don’t mow so short or just raise it in turns to avoid the dragging in the turn.

I am assuming that you have it set up correctly and the top link is loose and the front of the mower is held up by the lower 3 point arms and a tail wheel or two.

If it is digging in in some other manner then please provide the details of what is happening.

If you are raising the front of the mower with the three point to keep from digging in and then the mower is not mowing close (low) enough, leave the 3 pt as you use it when it's up (so it's not digging in) and lower the trail wheel to get the preferred cutting height.

I'll add are your tractors 3 pt draft link sway devices(chains or bars) snug not allowing draft links to move side to side when turning?? Side to side motion of draft links allows the draft links to get unlevel to a small degree due to changing angle of the lift links
