I have a Woodmaxx TM-86H chipper for my B2620 Kubota. What is the procedure for running the PTO while not seated on the tractor.

I know on the BX you have to flip the seat UP so the PTO will run,, it may be the same for yours

What Skeets said, it works better than the brick carried around for a month.
Double up on both what they said! FLip the seat!!! ....do this before you engage the pto!;)

It's the same on my L3901, flip the seat forward. However, my switch went bad and I just bypassed the switch altogether.

Yeah, I have to "bounce" in the seat every once in a while to get it started.

mdhughes,
Thanks for pointing this out. I found the information I was looking for on page 30 of my operators manual.
martidj, I see where I made my mistake, it is page 30 of the manual, but it is page 48 of the PDF of the manual. Sorry for the confusion!

Hmm, I tried the stationary PTO procedure for my B2601 today and it did not stay running. Instead of seat tilt switch, I think there's a parking brake interlock. I'll have to look at that one some more since I did have the (parking) brakes set and it still cut out.

Thank you for your time and for confirming the procedure mdhughes, your version of the procedure is the same as the one I used. If you have a B2601, does it work for you?

The only thing I didn't do was "place blocks at the tires." I know these things are smart, but I'm pretty sure they don't have chock detectors!

I'll start looking to see if there is a brake switch or parking brake lever switch that might be out of adjustment.

Dontwannaflip, no I don't have a B2601, I just have the L3901DT. But since Kubota Canada has most manuals online now it is easy to look things up.

Sometimes when I'm using my chipper I will cut wedges to use as wheel blocks, but I always use the "emergency" brake with it in 4-wheel-drive.

So I checked the shop manual to look at details about the "One Second Delay Engine Stop" logic.

The manual does not mention the brakes or parking brake, but it does mention the "seat switch" and "seat tilt switch." The seat switch is obvious and detecting occupied vs. unoccupied is straightforward, but for the life of me I can't figure out where the seat tilt switch is. How does it know when the seat is tilted?

Apologies to the original poster since this is about a different model tractor, but there are similarities.

The OPC controls the timing on the seat switch delay. ;)

There is 2 switches on the seat bracket one for down one for up.

N.I.W., I swear that I only see one switch. Although that one switch has three leads so maybe it is a SPDT switch . . .

I also have a backhoe on my B2601 with the swiveling seat option. If I pull the T-handle to release the seat into the swiveling position, I notice that the seat switch actuating lever is allowed to pivot up higher than when the seat is merely unoccupied. Perhaps this is equivalent to tipping a non-swiveling seat?

If the seat is in the normal position and occupied, the switch actuating lever is in its lowest position.

Using my terminology:
1. Seat is in unlatched swiveling condition-- Switch Position 1, equivelent to tilted seat.
2. Seat is latched in normal orientation, unoccupied-- Switch Position 2.
3. Seat is latched in normal orientation, occupied-- Switch Position 3.

I guess I'll just have to try it out!

Yup, theory-to-practice holds true . . .

If you have a swiveling seat for a backhoe configuration, you might need to release the seat into the swivelable position as the equivalent to tipping the seat.

I tried it on my B2601 and it worked as expected. Just need to rewrite the Kubota manual now. Or maybe the backhoe manual covers this?
