I don't know how full your tank is but if I was doing it I'd probably put a five gallon bucket under the filter and drain it there. It will take awhile but will work. You could also get the tank mostly empty by siphoning or pumping out of the place where you fill it. A cheap Harbor Freight transfer pump would do the job.

It will likely drain faster by removing the rubber hose to the fuel filter inlet versus running it out the filter bowl. It will also minimize the chance of something getting stuck in the filter housing where the diameters are smaller and the fuel changes directions.

Download the parts diagram from Kubota or Messicks and get some idea of the shape of the tank, I think the L01s are all in one piece, unlike mine which is split, just to make sure your siphon tube goes all the way to the bottom. Or that all of the tank is uphill from the water separator. Don't think removing fuel filter will work to drain tank on this model.

It is a good idea to be obsessive compulsive on removing water, the high pressure pump on the common rail engines really doesn't like water, and is expensive to replace.

Can you remove the fuel line that is going into the filter? Take an air hose and using a rag
to plug up the tank opening, pump air in to gently force the fuel out of the tank. Do not forget to add a fuel drier after you refill just in case you missed some water.

Pull the hose that goes to the water separator, it will drain pretty quick from there. I would pinch off the hose before you remove it, as it does flow fast out of the hose for as small as it is.

It doesn't have a gas tank so it's not possible to drain it.

take the line off of the separator and then let it drain that way. You'll want to get ALL of it out. Those engines (as well as all common rail injection engines) don't want ANY (none, zilch) water in them.
