Whoa! I've never seen so many choices. I'd select #2 and add some XPD to the tank as I've been doing lately. My F-450 owner's manual tells me not to use any fuel with more than 20% biodiesel but I never chose biodiesel for any thing I own unless forced to do so.

I just got back from a 600 mile round-trip to Kettle Falls, WA and I had no intention of getting any diesel in that state. It was $3.45/ gallon for #2 in my area and close to $5/gallon for #2 in WA. I filled up in Idaho on the way back for around $3.89 or something which was ok.

I know, and I did think of you and your clan when I stopped at the Blue Heron. I'll be out your way again soon I'm sure, but I was short on time this trip. I drove along the Pend Oreille river through Priest River and it sure is a lovely drive. Makes me want to take the boat up the river next summer. I know I have room for a wolf or two! 😂

#2. Tractor doesn’t deal with much cold here.

Biodiesel and bio-blends? I have enough problems without putting the hygroscopic methyl esters of biodiesel in a common rail engine with high pressure injectors that are susceptible to damage from even small amounts of water. Yeah, that can potentially be addressed with additives, but my one average 120hr/yr use CUT is the only diesel I have. I’m not burning enough to even consider prioritizing any realistic potential cost differential over mitigating the risk of chronic or catastrophic damage from water.
