I have been using a LandPride 1860 Rotary Cutter on the back of my tractor for quite some time, so haven't really had to deal with new attachments. However, I have recently just purchased a Finishing Mower and it did not have any pins for attaching to my QH15, but this is where I'm struggling. Can someone help me out here and let me know what I'm missing?

I've attached images of both my RotaryCutter as well as FinishMower.

In the RotaryCutter image, you can see the pin with a bushing on it. I'm assuming this is taking it from a category1 to a category3, so fit into the QH15 lifter arms.

In the FinishMower image, there's a pin there, but it's very loose (on purpose, I just put something in there so I can lift/move the attachment, it's not permanent). So, this is where I need a pin with a bushing on it, I'm assuming?

But I just cannot seem to find these parts anywhere, unless I'm just not understanding what exactly I need here? When I research online, people recommend this kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09G64HR27

But unless I'm missing something here, I don't understand how that would solve my issue. I also went to my local Tractor Supply Store, and they have the pins, but not the bushings. The only bushings they have are for category 1 to category 2, and a category 2 to a category 3 (and no, they do not "stack", already tried!)

Can someone dumb it down for me and help me understand what I'm missing? As I said above, I'm not entirely familiar with this whole process, so would probably need to dumb it down a bit so I could get a better understanding?

Thanks!

You need a bushing or a set of bushings. To get the outside diameter to a little less than 1-1/2". Your Kubota dealer or farm supply store should have them in-stock.

The first pic is a single bushing. The second and third pics are 2 bushing used to get the correct outside diameter for my land pride finish mower.

One other thing you need the floating top link kit for QH15, which of course is an add on option. The cost is not crazy. If you need info on the floating top link let me know.

Thanks for the reply!

I believe I have the floating top link for the finish mower, and just took a picture of it.

Your first picture, of the bushing, that's what I'm needing but cannot find a part number or anything. I even went to Tractor Supply and they only had the "category 1 to category 2" and "category 2 to category 3". Is that what is in your middle picture? Those 2 shoved together? I tried a dry-fit in the store with those 2 bushings and didn't seem like they wanted to fit together.

Where did you get your setup from your first picture? From the pin, to the bushing, and chain? (I'm constantly losing my locking/cotter pins and would like that exact setup on all of my attachments, even with the chain to keep them all together)

This is the only bushing set of that type that I found in a google search. These are what I received for my Everything Attachments three-point disk to use with my QH15.

You have the floating link on the mower, but also need a floating link on the quick hitch. See photo below (gold color arms). The land pride part # for quick hitch floating top link is 320-013A. It comes with 2 arms, a long pin, washers, and bushing that is needed to connect the 2 floating link together. The qh floating top link doesn't have to be removed once installed. Just flip it to back side.

1000001356.jpg

Now for the bushing. The single bushing is .875" id x 1.45 or 1.5" od x 1.75" long. I purchased this from my local tractor repair shop. The part number I have for it is something the local shop uses, so it would help you. They don't have a website for selling parts. You should how ever be able to get a bushing from any tractor dealer/repair shop, auto parts store, or machine shop ( hard to find one of those any more).

The second setup first bushing is .875" id x 1.125 od x 1.75" long the second bushing is 1.125" id x 1.45" od x 1.75" long.

The part number for first bushing is 87299215 and that is New Holland part # and is listed as cat 1 to 2 lift arm bushing.

The part number for second bushing is 87299217 and that is New Holland part # and listed as cat 2-3 lift arm bushing.

Both of New Holland bushing came from my Kubota dealer who doesn't sell New Holland equipment. You can find the parts on Messick, but I'm sure a local tractor dealer will have them. The cost should be less than $3 each.

If possible stay away from tractor supply. That place is over priced and you get zero service.

Edit. Sorry missed the part about the pin from my first photo. That pin came from Wallenstein and was part of my skidding winch. Search 7/8 hitch pin with chain and you will find options.

Excellent, thanks for all the replies. I'll stop by my local dealer and see what they have. Stopped by TCS yesterday because it was the only place open at the time, but I would definitely prefer to support my local dealer, as they have always been good at taking care of me whenever I needed something.

Also, appreciate the clarification on the floating top link. I'll see if I can pick one of those up later today and get that installed. Am I understanding this correctly, that the pin that my finger is on, is where those gold-colored arms would be connected through? (Floating-Top-link of QH connected to Floating-top-link of attachment?)

Sorry if these sound dumb. This is a new attachment for me, and is a bit different than my rotary cutter, so trying to get a better understanding and not damage my equipment!

Yes, the floating top links on both pieces are pinned to together using the pin you are pointing to.

The quick hitch floating top link is used for gauge wheel attachments that are self supporting. Meaning the 3 point is just pushing or pulling the attachment. A bush hog however does require the 3 point to support the attachment, so the quick hitch floating top link is not required. Hopefully this makes sense why you need the floating quick hitch top link for the finish mower, but not for the bush hog.

Your welcome. There's no such thing as a dumb question. It's only dumb not to ask a question. The quick hitch and 3 point standards are so loose that it can be a pain to figure out what you need.

This thread came up at a great time. Follow-up silly question, I have the same QH15 and found some .875 ID x 1.125 OD bushings on Amazon. But I can't find the 1.125 ID x 1.45 OD size. Any links?

I was able to pick up the required bushing yesterday from my local dealer. They were "Category 1 to Category 2" and another "Category 2 to Category 3" bushings, and I was able to get them to slide over each other, and looks exactly the same as in post #2's second picture (the picture with the double bushings together).

I had to order the floating top link, because they don't carry them in-stock and the QH-15 has been discontinued.

I have the part number for the bushings, but it's very specific to my local dealer (River Valley Tractor) and they don't have it listed or a link to it.

I'll try and get a picture of the double bushings I was able to put together tonight.

Below is a link to Messick for the larger bushing. Also you can search Messick with the part numbers I provided in my previous post.

I didn't buy any of these items from Messick and you should be able to give the parts numbers to any local tractor dealer or repair shop.

That QH15 is a mess and I don't know what Kubota was thinking. They got back on track with the QH16 which is basically a QH10 but with an adjustable top hook. I've had a QH05 and still have a QH10 and QH15 but ended up converting the QH15 to a QH16.

I believe they thought it would help with older or odd ball attachments. When I bought mine the salesman wrote the sales agreement with the QH16, but when I went to pick it up, I got the QH15. They told me it would be months before they could get a QH16, so I took what they had. They did throw in a set of bushings that work with implements that have a permanently installed single pin. Below is a link for the product. Again this is something you can get from a local dealer. Do like this bushing no linch pin required. So you can't loss it.

That's a good point, and I can cut Kubota some slack if that was their intention. If the implement has CAT2 or CAT3 pins that are welded in place or otherwise immovable, a CAT3 interface on the QH would allow use of CAT1, CAT2 or CAT3 pins with bushings in the case of 2 and 3. Still, for many (most) owners who have modern implements it just adds complexity, cost with a fair amount of annoyance. 😂

It would make sense to me if Kubota still offered the QH10, QH15 and QH16, or at least the 15 and 16. That would cover a lot of bases.

Yep…I think the height is actually more common between (modern) implements…ultimately ito go with the QH20, because I could not understand how the QH15 would help me with the implements I had in mind. Based on that I have had to modify a couple. Even still I have one that will not accept the QH.

I am to the point where I think either need more tractors, or more concrete & dolly’s so you roll the implement into the link arms.

I am not sure there is a one size fits all solution unless the only implements you need are in a single brand that is QH compatible.

I’ve recently added hydraulic top link and what it is missing is hand controls behind the machine…if length no good still have to fiddle it.

me thinks we are in search of a unicorn.

I agree with all points above. I guess that’s why they were including these QH15s with the purchase of the tractors. I probably wouldn’t have gotten one, had it not been included when I purchased mine.

Also, took some updated photos of my new setup, after picking up the bushings. Still waiting on the floating top link. Will update when I get in and installed.

Separately, anyone have some tips on connecting the PTO shaft to the back of the tractor? I am able to hook the end to the finishing mower, but won’t line up with the splines on the tractor. I can’t rotate the PTO on the tractor, and I’ve used a pry bar to rotate the shaft connected to the gear box but just can’t get them to line up at all. It’s quite frustrating and is kicking my butt.

OK, I guess my local Fleet Farm (Farm and Fleet) has the reducing bushings in stock.

Was curious why the QH15 was discontinued, but yet sold to me with my new tractor? I've been mostly pleased with it. The dealergave me correct bushings on my rotary mower, just not the box blade.

First time connecting the PTO was a PITA. I find it easiest to be on a level surface and having the implement driveshaft as straight as possible or parallel with the tractor PTO shaft. Connect 3 pt first then lift implement to best position then turn tractor off. Can usually turn the implement driveshaft freely when it's suspended in the air. Safety first!

Reach under the deck and rotate one of the blades by hand ( it will turn easy). It might take a couple of tries to get. I had to it the first time I used mine.

The QH15 was discontinued some time last year. Your dealer just like mine had stock and are trying to get rid of them. I don't mind the bushing, I just wished the dealer would have better knowledge about what is needed.

Well, I got the top link in today and installed it onto the QH15. Also have the pins and bushings all put into place, and was able to hook up the PTO shaft and got it all working.

Appreciate all the help and guidance in getting it all hooked up and working properly!
