Help! Source for Drag Link End for L245DT

Friend of mine in Norway has a 1985 L245DT. The cast-iron drag link end was broken in a wreck and welded, but the curved part of the link keeps breaking. He has tried all the major European used tractor parts houses with no success, and I've tried West Kentucky, Pittsburg, State Ag and Wengers with no luck.

From your description I think you are referring to the pitman arm. A drag link resembles a tie rod and is made from steel tubing not cast iron. The pitman arm is the part that is bolted to the side of the steering box and is made from cast. The drag link connects between the end of the pitman arm and the front steering nuckle.

Sam! Thank you for your reply. It's not the Pitman arm. It's as you describe, a link (in this case cast iron) and the knuckle that has four bolt holes in it that attaches to the inside top of the wheel. It looks to be a two-part piece, consisting of an approximately ten-inch long link of cast iron hooked to a cast-iron piece that makes a 90-degree bend downward to the top of the front steering axle where it is held in place by four bolts. Together the two pieces are called the Drag Link End. Dick

I see from the Kubota parts website that is what the call the drag link end. I would have never known that. Other tractors they call the same part the "Arm Knuckle". I am afraid if you tell people you are looking for a drag link end without going into more detail people will not know the exact part you are looking for.

One other thing, make sure you call it by the right name, it an End Drag Link, not a Drag Link End, huge difference in the two parts!

Wolfman! Thank you ever so much for the correction on End Drag Link vs Drag Link End! You've confused me though with a different part number. A Kuboda dealer gave me the P/N 37720-43910.
The P/N you quoted is 35280-43910. The last five digits are the same. The 35280 is smaller than the 37720 which makes me wonder if the number you gave is for an earlier model L245DT? His tractor is a 1985 model, apparently the last year they made it. Dick

All I can tell you is that I got it strait from Kubota and they are not showing any break in the serial #'s indicating that they made 2 different models.
Call another dealer and see what answer he gives.

I went through a bunch of Kubota parts, here is what I find.
The L185 and the L245 take the same P/N 35280-43910 and it's called a End Drag Link Posted picture before.
The P/N you gave P/N 37720-439100 is an updated part #, the original part # was a P/N35220-43910 and it lists as a Drag link End. What is odd is that I can't find a single application for that P/N? So my take would be that you local parts guy flubbed up and gave you some random #?

Wolfman! Thank you for checking on that part number. Unfortunately all the parts houses are closed over the weekend and I will have to wait until Monday to check. It was very helpful of you to mention that the End Drag Link was the same for the L185 as it was for the L245, as it widens my search options. I don't think the End Drag Link fit both the two-wheel and four-wheel models, did it? Will check on that Monday. Again my thanks. Dick

If you search L245 on ebay you will see the same part for the 2 wheel drive. It is very different from what you are looking for. Perhaps a good machine shop could fabricate an adapter.

Your right the 2wd and 4wd are completely different animals.
