I was changing the hydraulic filters at my 200hr mark on my mx5800 (it's a little under a year old). when I pulled off the larger filter(on the right side as you sit in the tractor) I found some metal shavings, more like curls, on the filter. Should I be concerned. I did the 50hr service and have been religious on maintenance.

Take the filter straight to your dealer and get it documented/photographed for future....
However, you say "curls on the filter", could this be from a slightly cross threaded filter when you put it back on last time?

I found some extremely small "corkscrew" shavings when I did my first 50 hour service on my 3350. These came out when I drained it. I didn't examine the contents of the filter. It seems to be a normal occurrence when gears mesh.
Just a few weeks ago for my 50 hour service, on my 2650, I drained my rear diff and noticed a lot of speckles of metal in it towards the end of it draining.
I used to have a 4x4 that I had regeared for better performance and the mechanic told me that I would find metal bits in it when I drained the rear diff. (which is why he had me drain it after 500 miles)
People even use drain bolts with magnets inside them to catch the shavings at the bottom of the diff.
But definitely follow 100d's advice to back yourself up while you're still in warranty.

I checked the filter threads it was not cross threaded. I've read that this is common to find during the first few services due to the manufacturing process, is this true? Or should I be worried? Tractor was running fine. Should I take it to the dealer or is this normal for the initial break-in?
I agree to take your findings to the dealer to document to cover your rear. That said your operators manual said the reason for the 50 hour service was to get rid of the various metal shaving produced during the break-in process. Most likely you are fine as Kubota says it is to be expected. I would still show the dealer your findings in the event you do have a future issue.
I just reached 200 hours on my MX5200 and found the exact same thing when I changed filters. I think it is normal and probably why there is such a big magnet on the filter.
