I Know its a z482 but im finding nothing about the details on it as it doesnt fit any sub models that google comes up with. The exact number is z482 -410262 . Ive found no stickers with more model info, only a sticker that says z482.

I know it came from a sailboat as the power unit for a generator. Its got a marine exhaust cooling system but it has green coolant in it which is different than boat motor water jacket systems ive seen.

Id like to get it running and use for a generator or maybe a mobile air compressor.

it turns over, not siezed. has fuel in fuel lines, full of engine oil. so it doesnt "appear" to be from a sunk boat

What details do you need for it? Searching on here it was used in the Kubota T1600 riding mower.
But if it was already a generator the governor/injection pump would be set to either 3600RPM or 1800RPM.

Got it running no problem and no smoke, no blow by. So appears in good shape. It idles at 2600 and max rpm is 3600.

Does that mean i can back off the idle screw so it will idle at say 1000rpm or are things calibrated differently inside injection pump for a 2600rpm idle speed? It does appear the low idle screw is screwed way in and has factory looking lock wire on it.

How to tell what year the engine was built? The model Hokie has listed above appears its a more modern version of what i have. Valve cover looks different too.

By the serial number the engine is older than 1997.
I've never found any records on date for these old engines.

If you are getting throttle response beyond the idle, than yes you should be able to back off the idle set and get a lower idle.
