Hey all,

Recently unloaded my 'Green' for some 'Orange'. I like my orange better then my old green. :D

I took delivery of a 2015 BX25D-1 with a 60" mower + Grass Catcher + FEL Quick Attach and BH Mechanical Thumb. Picked up a Woods RB60 rear blade for snow/grading duties. All in all thinking I got a decent deal.

I'm very much into grass/turf etc and love me my tractor time. I love to make small jobs into big jobs for the sake of using my tools/toys :)

Thanks,

SyNtAxx

Nice work!

Welcome!

Thank you all. Turf really is a passion of mine, not sure I can explain why though. I just love all aspects of it. I have to say, when it came time to upgrade tractors, there was no doubt in my mind what I wanted. :D There alot of good machines out there, there was just something about that bright orange that reeled me in though.

Looking for a pto driven slit seeder that I can use for the rest of the acre I am converting to pure Kentucky Blue Grass :)
...
I'll repeat everything (Welcome!; Great lawn!; etc.) And welcome to the Orange (tractors, that is!)

I can see the wisdom of all your purchases for their current and long-term benefits. However, I don't understand your intention to purchase a PTO-driven slitter. Wouldn't that attachment be obsolete as soon as your new turf was established? (Since my "turf" is mostly brown, bare, and/or mossy, clearly I'm totally ignorant about requirements for maintaining a nice lawn.)

Yes, that attachment would be less important after the lawn is complete. However, that will take me several years\seasons as i plant only what I can effectively water, which is about 8-10ksqft per season. My yard is a bit hilly and surface seeding is not going to work effectively here, unless i want to reseed after rain, etc. I may purchase a small walk behind slit seeder for the task. We'll see.You don't realize how large an acre and a quarter is, until you have to walk every square foot of it.

I hear ya! We are just about finished developing 2.5 acres plus about .5 acre of ditches and overlap on the lots beside me.

Trees planted and just finished over seeding the grass. It should freeze in in the next couple weeks.

My brother in law works for an agricultural supply company. He sells me chemical by the pail so it is cheaper. He also gives me the bulk fertilizer the sweep up. This is a great saving, not always sure of the blend but it hasn't seemed to matter.

My folks just moved beside us so we have been helping them develop their 2+ acres. My dad loves that bota and is using it up big time!

Welcome to the sight :D My father in law found out the hard way about seeding slopes  He went through and seeded his yard. Had a gully washer come through. Four or five weeks later he noticed a nice stand of Bermuda grass coming up at the neighbors house below him :D:p:D

That certainly changes the equation! (And like you, I *really* appreciate how many sq ft are in an acre!)

I think you're on the best tack (hey, tractors need to tack just like sailboats do!) to rent (or buy) a small slitting seeder. My suggestion, and I have no resources to offer, is to cover your seedbed with a mesh that you can roll up and reuse after the grass sprouts. But, considering your current lawn, I doubt you really need any suggestions. 'Spectacular' is an understatement.
