Haha! I just finished reading my grandmother's daily diaries from 1914 to 1951.

Kind of crazy to think he died at 22 due to an infection from a friction wound caused by an ankle brace. Still a few years before widespread availability of penicillin. 10 years later, that fatal injury almost certainly would have been a minor issue.
