Nothing like having to go into work early for a delivery. Driving down the road, stuck in traffic and having a message pop up on the dash that says "pull over now!!" :confused:

Then having the truck quit :mad: and having to push 14,000lbs worth of truck and load out of the interstate :rolleyes: great start to the week :D hope ya'll are having a better Monday :D

Actually they are road testing a freightliner in Nevada that drives itself :eek: it will signal the driver if there is a malfunction with the computer to take back over. Better hope the driver isn't snoozing :rolleyes:

The truck that broke down was a 09 f250 with the power stroke. 113k miles. Was supposed to have a new service truck delivered last month but it hasn't showed up yet. Maybe this will speed them up :D

The freightliner trucks have already passed all the tests and are now road legal and doing work.

That was fast :eek: seen something on the news about 3 weeks ago where they did a ride along on one and said they were still testing :rolleyes:

Just got back from the ford dealer. They are leaning towards egr valve or dpf system :rolleyes: if it goes like the 08 model we had that did the same thing at 120k miles, then they will come back and say the motors toast :( Guess we'll find out in a few days as to what's wrong with it :rolleyes:

I know right :rolleyes: the nerve of some people :mad:. Got the truck back already :) apparently it was the exhaust gas temp sensors. Darn thing with towing was almost $800 today. Good thing is the company owns the truck so they had to pick up the tab :D Gotta love the dpf systems on the diesels. Trucks running fine one minute, the next your stuck on the side of the road with a 3 second warning before it shuts down :rolleyes:

We've had issues with turbo's on Ford diesels at work (International engine?)

Earlier than yours ('03 or so?), but man, the things were a hassle, and expensive to fix.:mad:

I always thought the international motors were the best motors ford ever had, at least that's what I heard. My buddy had an 06 with the 6L that was one of their worst motors they ever put in a truck. After 75k he spent at least 2-3K a year on repairs. The transmission went at 100K as well as the turbo and intake around the same time. Besides that, it was powerful and a nice riding truck when it ran!:)

I started out in an 03 f450 service truck. Couldn't keep injectors in it. That was a bad design and the service manager at ford made the mistake of telling me why the injectors failed. The wires going to them would get pinched by the valve cover. They owned every bad injector on the truck after that :D Had a lot of ac compressor failures on it too. They would replace the compressor but not the dryer or clean the system out :confused: Truck got auctioned off when the wiring harness burned up for the motor.

The 08 f450 flat bed we had, was a piece of junk. Truck got sent to ford for an abnormal knock at 36k miles. They said it was a programing issue. Truck got towed in two days later dead. It was a connecting rod slapping :rolleyes: truck was in out of the shop for repeated issues and motor blew again at 120k. That got traded in for a new one last year. The 09 f250 I've been driving for 6 years now has been old faithful till today. Got a new fan belt and radiator hose last year. Other then that it's been just normal services and tires. I did have a run on tire pressure sensors for bit. Not really suprised it died though. It hasn't gone through a regen cycle in six months :rolleyes: Didn't want to put a bunch of money in it when it's getting replaced as soon as the f550 service truck gets here :D

I spent almost a year working in the bay next to the diesel tech. He was incredibly thorough and wicked fast. 15 bays and he was likely the top guy in the shop. Ford started with navistar engines, lik the 7.3 and started assembling with their own hardware and gaskets. Guess where failures started....

Breakdowns suck on any day. Friday is only a few days away.
