Well after barrow many friends trailers all the time I finally bucked down and got myself one. Ive been cruising local ads and CL for awhile now and came across one that interest me. Used 2009 Kaufman Deck over 18+4 with full ramps and the previous owner welded sides that can be easily removed. One piece needs some straitening after something smashed it but isn't that bad. They were part of a local small fleet of landscaper company's trailers. They got tired of items growing legs on job sites so they have converted to enclosed car hauler type trailers and put these up for sale. Original over emails the guy wanted $2,800 for it but after checking it out today and giving it a once over I told him I wasn't going to pay that with at least 2 of the 4 tires needing replacement in the near future. He said he would take $2,500 for it so I thought it was a fair price for the both of us. Its a 14k rated trailer with brakes on both axles. I couldn't wait to get the Kubota up on it for a test fit. Plenty of room. Might try loaded it backwards to get a better load over the tires.

What you all think???

The pictures won't come through, so I can't see it. It sounds like a fair deal, though. My dad and I have a Kauffman 20+4 foot deckover, and it is a great goosneck trailer. We paid a little over $5,000 for it, new.

Hodge - Not sure why pictures aren't showing up. I'll have to see what's wrong with them. I almost went with a gooseneck but then just went with a pull behind. I carry a dog box in the bed of my truck most of the year and wanted the option of pulling a trailer and having the dog box in my truck. Hope I don't regret my choice. Seems like a very well built trailer though. By the way the stabilizers are working out great.

Hodge - I can see your pictures but mine aren't showing up. When I posted it they showed up when I previewed it. Gonna have to fix it on my end. I like your trailer setup. Next one might have to be a gooseneck for me. I'll have to go with a hidden system though.

I can see the pic's and it looks great!
I wouldn't load it backwards, your going to put too much weight on the tongue.
How you have it in the pic looks perfect!;)

I can also see the pics.

I will give you $2550 as it sits, with the tractor included, but only if you deliver. ;):D

Enjoy every minute with it!

Looks good- I don't think you got hurt. A trailer like that can be used for a lot of things. Congrats!
I have a philosophy about borrowing- if it is worth borrowing, it is worth buying. I hate to borrow something, especially expensive equipment. I'd rather own it.

Forgot to mention that first warm day in spring I will be changing the color. The JD Green trailer doesnt look right with the Orange tractor on the bed. Not sure if I just wont go with Black or maybe kubota orange. Also Ive been looking online for new tires. Seems Costco has some for $125 each for 235/80-16E anyone know of a place online for good prices of trailer tires? I think I might even buy a extra tire and rim since there is a basket underneath the trailer to hold a spare.

I can see all the pics both trailers look great! The nice thing about your own trailer is….it's your own trailer. I agree with Wolfman, I would leave it loaded the way it is and just move front or rear to get the right weight on the tongue than mark the deck by the front tire when you have the load right.

Tires are not something to skimp out on an go cheap with. Cheap aint always right. You'll want a tire with a high ply thickness and a high load ratting. You dont wanna loose that purdy tractor off the trailer cause a cheap ass tire went POP!

Looking around for Tires seems to be directly from Kaufman has the best prices. $100 for just a tire and $150 for a wheel and tire. I'm not looking to skimp on quality tires just get quality tires for a good price. I would have to call and see what shipping is but might get 3 new tires and one tire/rim. So that way keep the best used tire I have as a spare and have all new tires on the trailer. Once the weather breaks going to pull the hub cabs and service them and also check out all the brakes and make sure all are adjusted properly. I really cant wait till it warms up outside so I can spray with paint. The JD green paint on the trailer now is hideous.

I don't blame you. Once you have it in your mind to do it, you don't want to wait.

IF a new color is in mind go with something lite that you can see better at night backing up. Yellow works great as a trailer color and reflects the trailer lights a little bit better.

I've had my trailer for 14 years and its black in color and I'm waiting for it to get bad enough and I'm thinking of redoing it yellow so I can see it when backing in the dark. Cat Yellow comes to mind, it used to be cheap at one time.

Eric -yeah still not sure on what color. Was thinking of maybe even a Orange. Anything is better then the green, plus all the over spray on the wood deck doesn't make it look any better. A buddy of mine built a contemporary style house on top of a mountain. He painted all the Metal gusset brackets for the large wood beams at his shop. They all ended up being CAT yellow. Needless to say he owns a excavation company that builds septic system and every piece of equipment in his yard is a CAT.
