When I turn key on light on dash shows but goes out immediately. The m assuming that the glow plug isn’t working because light doesn’t stay on for a certain length of time. This is when temps are around freezing or below. Is this correct and what steps to rectify?

Considering you don't have glow plugs in that unit, highly unlikely they are malfunctioning.
That model takes a Grid heater, completely different than a glow plug.
Are you using a block heater?
Is it taking a really long time for it to start?
The operation of the grid heater does not match a glow plug, there is not much of a preheat, it heats as air is flowing past it.
Get the WSM and follow it on trouble shooting the grid heater if you think you still have a problem.
