will a limited slip gear oil hurt anything? id like to get a full synthetic gear oil, but they are all limited slip, like Valvoline and mobile 1. do most of you run 75w90?

Don't know what you are wanting to use it in. I run full synthetic gear oil for lots of different applications.

I personally use Amsoil synthetic tractor trans/hyd fluid in my front end, same as what's in the hydraulic system. I did this mainly so I only had one type fluid to keep on hand.

That said, you should be fine with synthetic gear oil.

but will it be fine if it has the limited slip additives even though it doesnt need it?

I don't believe limited slip additives are going to cause issues in a non limited slip differential. You just don't want to go the other way with it...a non limited slip lube in a limited slip differential.

I have been using the limited slip Valvoline gear oil in my non limited slip differentials for years with no issues.

Limited slip lubes are fine to use. A friction modifier is introduced into the lube base to promote release of the limited slip clutch plates. The viscosity nor the protection level suffers from the friction modifier.
