G5200H 1000 hrs and change on meter. Wife ran it out of diesel and hasn't ran right since. I had recently changed water pump and cleared radiator to cure overheating. Now it dies under load and just doesn't seem to be firing right. It will idle fine and doesn't stall unless it's under load. I cleaned air filter and even removed but no difference. Fuel bowl seems fine. I popped lines loose and fuel seems to be pumping out just fine. There is a little smoke when you first fire it up but it goes away quickly. I would appreciate any advice. In the meantime I am going to purchase a service manual and start chipping away at the obvious things.

thanks
Matt

If it was run out of fuel, the system needs to be bled at each injector. Sometimes you even have to do it 2 or 3 times to get all the air out of the system. Just don't put your fingers/hands near the injectors while bleeding. High pressure fuel squirted into your body is cause for mucho badness.

You should also check the fuel filter, as a clogged filter can cause many of the same symptoms.

Is there an inline filter near the fuel tank? I vaguely recall that when I last had the fenders off. I also noticed a small fuel leak right on the fuel pump where all three lines branch off. It seems to only be a slow seep but it's there none the less. Could this be sucking air into the system? Are there any service manuals available for a decent price?

thanks

Changed all filters and runs fine now. I wonder if it might still need some cylinder/piston work. Does anyone have a lead on a good service manual.

thanks
