Can anyone help? I've removed the "fender" (main body panel) to service/repair the fuel pump (now fine) and managed to remove fender without removing the cam rod for the mower height adjustment knob - I just couldn't seem to get it off and luckily, with a bit of a 'twist" I could ease the fender off.
Different story getting it back on, just can't seem to ease/twist in reverse! My options seem to be to cut a channel in the fender to slide the cam rod into/through (not the end of the world) or take the cam rod off like I should have done in the first place. BUT: I can loosen the cam mounting nut easily enough (loosen, but it doesn't seem to remove completely) but can't then unscrew the cam rod itself. Tried plenty of force, but really don't want to shear off the rod as replacing it and potentially the cam behind looks like it would involve massive amounts of stripping down.
Am I missing something or should this be straightforward? Very frustrating as I've fixed the underlying problem - fuel pump - and now just want to put it all back together again!

Doesn't say anything about the adjustment knob for removing the fender. Looks like the nut for the knob should just come off though.

Thanks for the reply, yes, I have that manual and know how it's meant to work, just doesn't seem to be so easy in practice!

I have NO real idea or experience with what you are talking about but there have been some discussions on here on how to remove lever knobs on other tractors so will give you some of those comments. So take them as things to consider instead of exactly how to do this!

1) go buy a new knob from the dealer to see how it is attached to the lever.
2) heat the knob with a heat gun or blow dryer then remove it.
3) Most discussion has been that the knobs are friction fit to the lever so just will “pull” off or can be driven off using a wrench underneath the knob and then hammering upon the wrench.
4) use a Dremel tool to cut through the knob to remove it.

Good Luck

Thanks for your response. I'll try these out!
