G 5200 F.I. leaking near the top

Good ’enin the forum. It’s been a while. I’ve checked in from time 2 time. The G 5200 has been running great….until I took her out to do a last final mowing of the season. I started her up and flipped open the hood to check things out and saw there was fuel leaking (sprayin) from near where the injector lines come off the top of the pump. There are 3 hold-down collars at the top of the pump, under the injector lines. These 3 collars(?) are attached to the top of the pump by tamper-proof torx screws. The leaking seems to be coming from under these collars. Or at least that seems like where it’s leaking from. I’ll see if I can post a picture.
My question…. does anyone know what is under these collars and what would make it leak?? If I take these collars off, will pieces go flying all over the place?? If the leak can be can be be remedied, will the system need to be bled?? And if so, how is that done??
i know nothing about fuel injection pumps so any help would be appreciated. Thank you kindly. Mike

There is NO way that I would take anything off of the injection pump. It is probably leaking underneath the #060 part but certainly could be leaking under the #080 part as you think. That is just a more difficult place to leak from what I see.

I would take the injection pump off and have it rebuilt by a professional injection pump shop like Oregon fuel injection or perhaps your local dealership.

There are probably some shims between the pump and block that must be replaced exactly as they are (same thickness total) so don’t loose any of them. For sure don’t send them off with the pump!

You think they put tamper proof screws on it for a reason? :unsure:
If you pull them off you change the timing curve and without the proper test equipment there is no way to set them properly.
There are a ton of "rebuild kits" out there, but they don't tell you about the downfalls of pulling them apart.

The first thing I would do Devil Dog, is to verify where the leak is coming from.

I know nothing about your particular tractor, but I can’t tell you how many times I have “thought” a leak was one thing, and it turned out to be another.

Wash/degrease it real good, then have someone start it while you watch it to verify the leak. A cheap “inspection mirror" might be handy as well.

I'd throw a little UV dye in the fuel. I'd think that stuff made for an engine/transmission (mixes with oil not coolant) would be the ticket. They're tiny little bottles. Toss that in the fuel, buy yourself a UV flashlight and maybe some of them fancy yellow glasses, and watch for the glowing trace
