Has anyone replaced a OEM fuel level sensor with a stainless reed type sensor? My L4330 fuel sensor has been intermittent for while. Thinking of replacing but the OEM replacement part cost makes me think of just using a stick.
The reed type sensors are only about $40.

If your fuel-level system is intermittent…. you likely have a bad electrical connection. Trace it out… make all the connections “brighty and tighty”…. and ascertain the wiring is not damaged by mice somewhere along the line.

Welcome to the forum.

If the brighty/tighty doesn't work and you need to replace the sender, I replaced the old coil type float sender with one of these:

Depends on your gauge resistance, may need a few resistors soldered into the circuit. The gauge needle swings more than I'd like when the fuel is sloshing in the tank, but I just haven't got around to adding the resistor or capacitor (can't remember which... I have designed it) to snub it.
