I just aquired an L4300f by trade. Great tractor so far. I noticed the front tires are dry rotted, so I looked at the size to get info for buying a new set, and I noticed they are 205 65 16 car tires. Is this a common practice running car tires on the front? Aside from cost, is there any advantages or disadvantages? I would assume traction would be a disadvantage in some situations.

Mostly it depends on what you are doing with the tractor.
With 2WD the size ratio does not particularly matter. Regular 2WD front tractor tires are ribbed to dig in a bit and assist the steering effort in soft turned soil. Auto tires will have a tendency to slide sideways rather than steer.
If you are mostly mowing, auto tires will probably carve up the lawn less.
Aggressive snow tires could be a good compromise.
If you have a FEL, go for a hefty load rating.
If I wasn't going for looks, I'd let my wallet do the talking.
