Hi,

some of my friends owns a Kubota B2710 with front PTO. But he got a problem with
the tractor as the clutch of the front PTO does not disconnect. It seems as the
front PTO "box" is original als the is "Kubota" on it. He bought the tractor as "used"
and as far as I know did the clutch of the front PTO never work correct.

I know that "usual" clutches in tractors can "stick" and the problem can be solved
by opening the clutch.

Can I try to open the front PTO Box on my own (I'm not a mechanic but did
quite a lot of repairs on my Eicher on my own, changing the Clutch, new piston
rings etc)? Or do I need special tools for calibrating the clutch?

sorry for my bad english, but in school I did not learn english for mechanics ;-).

cu

Johannes, I am assuming the clutch is electro magnetic. If so, I have the B9310 PTO on my 1979 B7100 which is probably similar. If I remove the nut on the face of the clutch, you can separate the clutch/pulley from the magnet. The nut holds this on a tapered shaft with a key. Once apart, you will see a snap ring holding the clutch shaft in the center race of the sealed bearing. The outer race is pressed into the pulley. My guess is that the sealed bearing is seized or less likely the clutch plates are rusted together. If it is the bearing, it looks like it can be easily pressed out and replaced.

If you need any part numbers, I can probably dig them out. Here is a picture of the back side of the clutch/pulley. If you need more, here is a link the front, magnet and shaft:

Good Luck,
