Hello!

My name is Klaus and I live in Austria, Styria. I have a L345DT tractor. My problem is, i don't know how much oil must be in the front axle differential case (total) and in the front axle gear case?
Sorry for my bad language :(
I hope, you can help me.

Greetings from Styria, Klaus

I have a B1750 and an L4330 Kubota. In general, axle assemblies have a bottom drain plug and a higher fill plug. Oil should be poured in the upper plug until it is level with the opening. I think this is standard procedure for most oil bath gear assemblies. I prefer Amsoil 90 weight gear oil, but any 80-90 weight gear oil should work.

If I remember correctly My L 3000 holds about 6 qts of oil in the front axle. Seems like the fill plug serves as a dip stick as well. My 9000 has a small plug below the fill port that can be removed to check the oil level. Just remove the lower plug and when the oil runs out it's full. Both tractors have drains on the hubs and they are refilled to the top of the case when you replace the oil. They are seperate fron the axle housing itself. Both of them can use 90w gear oil but came factory with SUDT. I chose to go back with Amsoil tractor trans/hyd oil just so I wouldn't have to stock but one oil for the trans/hyd and axle.

Realize this is an old thread, just starting now, 2022 with similar questions--
Have an 1984 L345DT (4WD) with front loader and backhoe, 4 cyl engine.
Looks like the front differential has a drain plug on the bottom and 2 fill plugs, one on the top of each axle housing, left and right. Also looks like there is a separate axle hub case on each side, also with a fill plug and drain plug. Doesn't appear to have level plugs either for the differential or for each axle hub case.
My manual (not original) does specify the amount of 80-90 gear oil for each axle case and for the front differential.
Out of curiosity, I don't understand why each side of the axle housing has a fill plug.
My problem is that I can't find (yet) the fill plug on the top of the axle hub case. The drawing shows one, but I haven't found it yet.
Any helpful hints on how to identify it would be a big help.
Thanks in advance.

I'll send you a place to get the WSM (aka service manual) it has all the specs.

The reason the outside cases have their own fills is because there is a seal between the diff and gear cases that separates the 2 spots to some degree, I'll bet with as old as it is that those seals don't work as well as they used to, but you still need to fill the side cases first, 1.6quarts in each and 2.1quarts in the main diff.
You really can over fill it.

Hey guys, Another resurrection for this thread. I also have an L345DT.
It's time to drain and refill the front axle.
I see a huge discrepancy between the owners manual and the WSM.
So, do I fill the center section with 5.3 qts or 2.6qts? This is really confusing.
I drained about 4 qts. plus a bit more. Maybe 4.75 qts came out.
The outers will both get .7qts of gear lube. So at least that data is correct.

I filled it with 5 qts of gear oil and the fluid level seems really high to me - it comes to the first (lowest) thread on both fill ports.

am I missing something?
Thank you for any/all help.
