Well after purchasing this L225DT, I noticed a hydraulic leak coming from the rear axle area. Thought just a drain plug gasket so I replaced them when I changed the fluid, still leaking. Went out there today to dig a little further and found the RH rear axle case to be cracked, right behind where the 3 point link has been rubbing it. I feel sick. Those are available but over $1000. Is this something I can take off and have welded?

Pictures are a plus, but can you attach at a higher resolution and make certain they are in focus or illuminated to better see the problem area?

If the crack and leak is on the shiny part of the case they yes you can weld it up to get it to seal.

You'll need to replace the pin or balls on the ends of the lift arms if they are worn and allowing the arms to hit the case.

Hello
If you can’t weld it I have a good used one. Your fuse holder is on it’s way.
Good Luck Lance

Yes it is the shiny part, I heard you cant weld cast iron though. Is that what this is?
Cast Iron can be welded. The good news is it is not a stress crack, it is a wear through hole. Should be a very fixable problem. The bad news is its going to be a lot of work if you have to disassemble. You can not weld it with oil inside.

Like others have said, it's weldable, but you have to take it all apart to weld it.

You might be better off getting a hold of Lance (007kubotaguy) and getting a good case to replace it. ;)

Since it doesn't have to be a high-strength repair, you could drain all the oil out and just have someone braze it. It's far easier to braze cast iron then weld it. Good thing is all you need to do is seal it.
