Question: Are you a filthy slob who refuses to do any cleaning or take the garbage out?

Answer: No, Sir! I am a Roach Rancher with a keen eye on maximizing my production levels. :p

Been in a few houses when I used to install alarm systems that still give me the willys to think about them today, They would have made millions supplying pet food stores.

I know an old guy that was a plumber all his working life. He had stories that were almost certainly true but very hard to imagine....

In the mid '70s I rented a one bedroom apartment.
(on the south side of Northern at 22nd ave, for those familiar with Phoenix)
We began having roach problems- a few at first, then steadily more & more. We complained & the city finally agreed there was a problem. Seems that the whole area used to be on septic tanks, and later the city brought sewer lines into the area. Many of the old timers didn't trust the sewer system, so they left their empty septic tanks hooked up along with the sewers- a perfect, mega breeding ground for roaches.
The city required us to move out for 48hours, and put methyl bromide down all our drains, then opened all the area manholes & sprayed in vast quantities of more methyl bromide. The roaches began to pour out of the manholes. It looked like a science fiction movie-(Damnation Alley) grown men climbing on top city trucks, at least 3 accidents with cars skidding on squashed roach guts, women screaming, and one old guy with a flamethrower trying to stop the roach tsunami.
It was fun to watch, and after a day of sweeping up dead bugs, we never had any more problems.

Again Phoenix fall of 1985 was out working on my car when I see a swarm of something coming at me, I quick jump in the car and slam the door, thousands of huge flying cockroaches cover the ground, the cars, the buildings, everything, about 5 min later the majority had moved on, so got out and gathered up my tools and called it a day... completely freaked out by the event.

Fast forward to the next summer, was back in michigan and had friends helping me work on my car getting it ready for paint, one guy pulled the door panels and when he unbolted the door handle he dropped the nut in the door, reached down grabbed it up and some junk, pulled it out, only to be face to face with a giant perfectly preserved cockroach, I never thought a guy could scream that hard and run that fast! :D

I see this stuff and am amazed. I can't believe some folks consider a roach a pet.

Do you put a leash on it an go for a walk? Do you set and talk to it? Do you shampoo it and give it a bath? Have it neutered or spayed?

What kind of a mind would enjoy call a pet a critter others try to exterminate? A non-conformist? An exhibitionist?

I'm going to see a counselor to see if I'm the one off!
