Just attached new land pride fm2172(italian) Manual is a little sketchy for me to understand the cutting height. Does the roller contact the ground(weight of mower on the roller)? I assume the shoes and roller need to be at the same level. Manual says roller height determines cutting height. Any advice. Thanks

Scrolling through some old threads and saw your question with no replies.

Mowing height is controlled by the roller and the flail is operated with the 3 point in the full down position. Once you set the roller where you think you want it the lower the mower fully and adjust upper 3 point arm so mower sits level. If you need to adjust the cutting height raise the mower (Do I need to say shut off the tractor and make sure blades are fully stopped?), adjust the roller, lower to the ground, adjust upper arm to level mower and check cutting height. It's a bit tedious but flails are awesome tools once you get it set.

Following the directions that came with my WoodMaxx flail, I have the skids slightly above the ground (the roller makes contact first) and also a slightly higher angle at the front, the first time I used it the skids left tracks, a quick adjustment and know it's perfect.
