Hi,

I am new here and hoping you guys can help me become a Kubota owner.

I have been looking for a low hours used MX line. I finally found one nearby that may fit the bill, and I am trying to figure out a fair price. It is a MX5100HST 4x4 with 45 hours. It has the 844 FEL and comes with a basic bucket and a set of forks. It has R1-Ag tires and no rear remotes. It has always been kept inside and the PTO has only been used once. The guy wants $22,500 which seems a little high.

What is a fair price - I saw one post from back in December 2016 where a guy paid $21,000 for the an MX5100HST with FEL and R4 tires.

I am not trying to steal the thing, but I do want to get a good price since you are always taking a risk buying used, it is out of warranty, and no financing deals are available like on new tractors.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

How much do you want to spend, walk up with 20K green and lay it on the table and see how you go!

I agree ... barter. The market for a used MX is not that big, there are dozens of them new or almost new on the big iron sites.

If you do get it, make sure that all of the controls work smoothly. I know it only has 45 hrs on it but it has set for a long time and just non-use can cause the controls to bind up. It never hurts to make sure. Also, raise and curl the bucket then leave it there while you talk story for a while. You may see that the seals are leaking and allowing the bucket to uncurl. Both of these easily fixed issues can be bargaining chips for a better price.

Good luck! I love my MX5100.
