I took a look under the hood today and was surprised to see this corrosion. Is this normal? My tractor is almost five years old. I keep it outside under two covers so it doesn't get rained on. What can I do to stop or slow it down? I'm sure it gets hot under there. Thanks.

Re: Engine corrosion

Is that part of the exhaust? If so that's normal.

Re: Engine corrosion

That looks normal on the exhaust.

When you say under cover, does that mean covered with a tarp?

My brother tried that and it would actually hold moisture then after a few days in the heat it would dry back out. We figured it was doing more damage than good. Cheap lean to carport was his solution.

Re: Engine corrosion

When you cover something, especially over dirt or gravel, you seal in any moisture that comes up from the ground. If you have to park on dirt or gravel and you want to cover the machine, put a piece of thick black plastic down to park the tractor on and make sure it is set up so it doesn't collect rain water and trap it.
