I'm guessing that you mean that you don't want to run the engine that hard, Is this correct?

If this is what you meen I understand your concern. I grew up with IH tractors that had a much lower RPM to get the 540 PTO speed and had to get used to Kubota engines. This may sound strainge but it is harder on the tractor and the cutter if you don't run it at the rated RPM. The engine was designed to run at the rated speed and if you run it slower you are going to put heavier loads and strain on all the components and in turn will make every thing run hotter which in the end will shorten the life on the tractor and cutter as well. My advise is just try not to think to much about it and crank it up to the rated speed and let it eat. It was made for it and will do fine.

Hi Mylo,

Your welcome for the info and welcome to OTT as well. You did good to get a Kubota like that for your first one. I started out with a mid 70's B 7100 but that little tractor is what sold me on Kubotas. It didn't have a tach so when I was using the PTO I would just pull the throttle all the way back and then ease it off just a little and run it like that all day long. I used it for 16 yrs. (over 6000 hrs) and it was still running when I traded it in on a bigger one. I understand not wanting to turn it that hard but it will take it and do it for years.

Did a search and this post answered my question perfectly. We just got a rotary cutter for our 3200. Thank you!
