doing an overhaul on my b7100 and adding a few gauges, (tach, oil, volt, temp) and was wondering if an EGT gauge would be worth the effort, there pretty reasonable. I know there mainly used for turbo engines (this isn't) but any additional info while operating the tractor to prevent catastrophic failures is always A good thing, just want to know if i'd be wasting my time and money.

Interesting maybe, worth it...not really.
One rule of thumb with a non turboed engine is if there is black smoke the exhaust temp is up in the red zone.:D

Not worth it. Doesn't tell you anything useful unless you have dyno tested numbers to compare against. Even then......

As a side note, how are you mounting the gauges? There's not a lot of real estate on the dash tin. I'm looking for a neat way to add some myself. I just hadn't Decided how yet.

I've played around with the lil bracket that came with the gauges but everywhere I mocked it up it looked like crap, so I need to make a run to the steel store and I am going to make a lil gauge pod and mold it into the hood like the late 60's muscle cars had back in the day, just waiting for the weather to break so I don't freeze my behind off when I'm making it. I'll post some pic's of it when I make it up. as for the tach, I just used the factory location for the hr meter and picked up a mechanical tach that fit in the hole that has an hr meter built in.
