I was moving some brush and poked a hole in a hydraulic line. After replacing it, I over filled it a little. Where is the best place to drain some? It is like buying gold so I want to try and not spill a lot. Thanks in advance!!!
You may be able to remove the sight window if you have one.
I suggest you look at getting a pump (drill mounted one) or a siphon to get out what you need through the filler port. I’ve seen hand driven transfer pumps at auto parts store that would pump it right back into the bottle.
How much is "a little"? 1/8" on the dipstick? 1/2" on the dipstick? I'd suck it out of the filler plug near the dipstick using a piece of 1/4" tubing and an air operated brake bleeder from Harbor Freight. You can get them for around $25 Pre-Covid U.S. dollars.
As was asked above, how much is "a little"? It may not be necessary to remove any. Any place you decide to drain may drain off "a lot" before you get it under control. Pulling some out of the filler location would probably be best.
Thank you very much! I'll go by harbor freight and get a brake bleeder. The level is about 1\4 inch above the second line on the dipstick but the dipstick is very short so I was concerned being that much over. 1\4" is about the distance between the two lines on the dipstick.
Forget about that. If it’s not completely off-the-scale high then you’ll find over time the level will likely slowly drop as air-pockets are filled/removed/burped.
