Is this normal when kubota installs a wear bar/edge?

I hate those bolts sticking up

I have a good mind to just weld it solid

Don't weld it.... cause then you can't replace it

For my homeowner use I will likely never wear it out

But even if I do I'll just Cut it off and weld a new one on.

I was more concerned if this was standard procedure on how to attach these

It's an upgrade option.
If you will note, the bucket already has a wear, cutting edge on it.
Unbolt the add on cutting edge and save it for when the bucket edge gets worn. ;)

Yep - looks standard to me. Bolts look 1/4" too long, though, for a little tractor you want to carry mulch bags, etc., with because they tear the bags......

You're obviously using it, so I would consider it a good choice to go with.

Even the easy-on-off tooth bars with 2 bolts have several "ears" that hook over the bucket's front edge.

My little BX has a Piranha bar on it from BxPanded, and I'm guessing they're almost 3/4" tall. I hook and tear mulch, lime, and grass seed bags on those too.....

I'd take a Dremel, angle grinder, or whatever, and cut the excess bolt off...and leave the bolt-on edge on.

Or cut the excess length off, and replace the nuts with either jam nuts (shorter) or acorn nuts. (no sharp edges) Acorns would probably look better.

What Lil Foot suggested is probably the proper way to clean it up.

I'd take a cut off wheel and cut the threads off at the top of the existing nuts. Then take a grinder and round them off and go digging.

Those would bug me too. I would replace the bottom portion with these:

And these I would countersink the top of the bar to accept a counter sunk bolt with an allen head.

That way it would be flush on the top and bottom.

Cut off threads that are sticking out and a tack weld to keep nut in place.
Never really found a problem with the nuts that way.

All big loaders use a bolt on cutting edge. Or as you prefer, a welded on one.
