Does it matter what brand box scraper/box blade I get for my BX23S?

Have had my BX23S for a little over a month now and can't believe I've gone without a tractor for so long.

Picked up some from forks and a land rake when I purchased the tractor. They did not have any 48" box blades in stock and said they were ordering a couple. Five weeks later they still haven't arrived at the dealership and each week I inquire they assure me it will be the following week.

I live in a rural area, so not a lot of options, especially in the 48" size. Plenty of used for sale, but they're all 5" or larger. There's another dealer in town that has a Braber Agri Ease 48" box blade in stock. Less expensive than the Land Pride and the one nice feature I noticed are the adjusters for the shank depth are actual pins instead of the metal compression-style springs on the Land Pride. That feature seems easier to adjust and more convenient. The Braber is about 50lbs heavier than the Land Pride and described as "heavy duty" and rated for tractors up to 50hp, while the Land Pride is considered medium duty and rated for a tractor up to 25hp. All other features aside, should I just get the Braber and be done with waiting for the dealer that keeps kicking the can along telling me they'll be here next week?

If the welds and thickness are ok, It looks fine to me...

I wouldn't care for the clips that are used on the landpride unit either. Mine has pins like the BE unit in your pic.

Get yourself a quick hitch and go for it.

My only reservation with a quick hitch is I use the backhoe as well. If I'm switching between the backhoe and land rake or box blade I still have to take the backhoe off and on, and adding a quick hitch would just add another step, right? I do have a set of telescoping stabilizers for the 3-pint hitch. Using the stock turnbuckles is a PITA.

I have several different brands of implements for my BX23S. The other brands a less money and do the same job. I also have a quick hitch and it makes changing the implements a breeze. It is so simple to just back up to a different implement lift it up, lock it down and it's done. The quick hitch was one of my best investments.

Never heard of anyone using a box blade on their lawn.

Learned something new today! (y)

I would cancel the order for the Land Pride First, if you ordered it and / or paid for it.

As far as box scrapers go: With your BX23S I don't think you could go wrong with any brand.

They are about as complicated as a box of rocks. They are a box for rocks.

Does anyone remember that story of a guy who twisted up his box scraper with a 23 HP tractor? No? Neither do I. Never happened.

who’s using it on their lawn? I will be using it to level and grade my gravel driveway, move snow in the winter and level out part of my yard before laying down grass seed since I just tore up the front lawn digging a trench for a frost free yard hydrant and removed four very large stumps, two with the backhoe and two with a stump grinder.

FWIW, I use my neighbors BB1260 on my BX23S and it works great. That extra 2' helps.

I never paid for it. Was going to lump it into the original purchase when I bought the tractor since it was 0% financing but the dealer said they couldn’t do that because they didn’t have any in stock and in order to add it to the loan they would need a serial number. They ordered a few but seems like each week they keep telling me “they’ll be here next week”. I’ve been waiting and would pay cash but after 5 weeks and now really to grade my driveway and just removed 4 big stumps from the front yard I’m really to grade and level the yard and get it ready for seed in the fall.

I don’t really think it’s their fault. Seems like they’re at the will of Kubota corporate where they won’t send an order out until it meets some sort of quantity or financial quota and then they’ll ship a large group order. Was the same with Stihl. They won’t ship to a retailer until an order meets a minimum dollar amount.

Hagrid, the #1 OTT Jokester. He's just messing with you. But you probably figured that out.

Kinda sorta ...

Once I take the BH off, I put the QH on, then I can swap between my attachments ... In your case you may be using the box blade, but decided to then use the landscape rake, which means not even needing to leave your seat to swap them out ... Besides ... Let me in on a secret ... Attachments are kinda like the proverbial Pringles, you can't have just one, and they seem to multiple like rabbits ... Build a bigger barn to store them all in! 😆

Well, just. Checked and the Kubota dealer doesn’t have the quick hitch in stock either. Would be nice to have the quick hitch first to see if it fit the box blade I’m looking at.

I’m trying to give Kubota more money, but doesn’t seem like they want it!

Quick hitches are for lazy farmers.

I'd say...

Buy an off-brand QH from the same place that you are getting the box scraper from.

If you really want a QH.

Cheaper than Land Pride.

check these out...no bushings needed...

can likely find it elsewhere for a bit cheaper. It's worked great for me.

Here's on listed for $180. Not sure about shipping

If you're moving dirt get a box blade. If you're smoothing out gravel or a lawn get a land plane.

Here's a recent post discussing both.

Read Post #7.

I know the differences between the two. Land plane is a one-trick pony, box blade/box scraper is way more versatile. Takes a bit more work to grade and level a driveway with a box blade, but it can and is done all the time. But you can't do all the stuff you can do with a box blade with a land plane.

Very True.

For leveling...

The land plane is great for driveways. Long, straight, linear.

A box scraper is good, for situations where you can drag it from 360 degrees over the area. You normally can't do that with a driveway. But a box scraper IS more useful overall.

2 or 3 posts in one thread is my limit. I am done here.

Back to the original ?... Buy cheap box blades and such, pay the bigger bucks if it's PTO driven with a gearbox.

Good Luck

Way cheaper.

It was a few hundred dollar difference between a landpride and whatever the hell mine is...... its black. And works great! LOL

I went with the 48" landpride and 3 point hitch,, I seem to have a very good dealer and like the BX23S all was delivered free.. I just had to be home to hand over the check.. (hitch, blade box, wheel weights and assorted service stuff) it not a complicated thing and any of the type should work fine,, after removing the backhoe and installing the hitch once or twice it's now about a 10 minute job..

Yes.

As others have stated, it’s just a metal box and you’re hitching it to a rather smallish tractor.

Edit: That may have come across a bit harsh. No offense intended by the “smallish tractor” comment.
