I am currently rebuilding a D1301-a engine from a 1979 L295dt, I installed new valve guides not knowing that they may be different. They all came in the same box, not labeled separately or anything. Are the intake and exhaust guides interchangeable or do I need to knock out the guides and re-arrange them?

Hello,
I went to this website https://parts.mbtractor.com/
and did a search on the L295DT. This website has been excellent for me for parts.

It appears that the intake and exhaust guides started out with different numbers but the superceded numbers are the same. Notice however that the last guide for the exhaust has a different superceded number based on serial number.

Notice also the indications of serial numbers by the parts. You will have to use that as your reference too.
Do the intake and exhaust valves on your engine both fit all the guides you installed similarly?
How did you order guides? Was it through a kit?

Maybe someone else here with knowledge of that engine can help further.

It appears that the exhaust guides at one time were different by serial number……but were superseded …. and then the superceded PN was superceded to one common exhaust guide unrestricted as to serial number. However the intakes and exhausts have different PNs…. So it appears the intake and exhaust guides are different from each other.

While I’m unfamiliar with this particular engine…. I‘ve seen others that the guides have identical measurements …are dimensionally identical… but they are made of different alloys, with the exhaust designed for higher heat.
