I have an M6-131 purchased new in 2020. DEF header replaced in 2025, one month before warranty expired.
Now, one year later, I have a DEF level light coming on which apparently also triggers the countdown timer. So far my dealer service department has not been able to figure it out. They kept the tractor for a week and were unable to replicate the problem. We are still in discussion.
My operator manual says the light can also be triggered by a DEF quality problem. The DEF tank is full.
I tried draining the DEF tank and refilling with fresh DEF, but that had no affect.
I find that after starting the light will trigger in 6 minutes, but it doesn’t always trigger. If it does trigger and restart timer, I’ve been shutting it down and waiting 10 minutes to restart. Usually after 1-3 tries it will start with no light. If the light doesn’t trigger after 6 min I can operate (bush hogging recently) for 4 hrs with no problems. When I stop the engine to clean the mower deck, eat lunch, or whatever, the restart will usually come with a light after 6 minutes. I see no trouble code displayed on the dash and the dealer found none when they had the tractor.
Any ideas about what could be my problem? Anything particular I should check or actions I should take? The dealer is still looking for an explanation, and I will be talking with them again this week.
I’m attaching a pic of the dash with def level light and countdown timer active.
