As in I can't move it by hand. How easy should it be to engage? I removed the cable to replace it. Is there a way to service it?

Thanks for any help.

Thank you I found it and others after doing a search with the right search string. Given its age and starting well all these years I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep over it. If I can free it up without pulling the cover fine if not another time in warm weather. the block heater works and it'll be under cover with a battery minder so it ought to kick when prodded.

So I took my precision oiler and was able to get lube to the entry point. Got a good stick and my dead blow mallet and was able to move it back and forth, adding more lube as I went and now the spring action works perfectly. Lack of use and sitting idle out in the weather was the culprit.

Glad you got it working.

It was the same for me. I was convinced that the cable had broken, and the previous owner had done "something" to make it stick in place.

But once I got some lubrication on it, it freed up.
