hi guys
do any of you guys out there know wether a kubota D950 engine will fit into a b7100 tractor, i'm thinking about rebuilding an old b7100 without an engine fitted at present, and seem to remember that someone had done this, any help info on he subject would be great.
also what about compatability with other parts like output shafts etc and belhousing mounting holes etc.

A fair amount has already been written on the subject --- more trouble than it's worth. Might just as well buy another tractor that has what you want. Use the forum "Search" feature above and type in "engine swap".

many thanks , yes i did suspect as much but i have the chance of the engine at a very good price, also the b7100 is in good shape minus an engine, seemed like a good plan at the time....

to carry on this a bit, i have been reading through the other threads on a similar issue and this one area seams to keep cuming up.

saw this info:
I put a D950 in my B7100. It came from an Onan marine generator.

The Onan Marine D950 didn't have a front PTO shaft, but the front pulley had 3 tapped holes that I fab'd a stub shaft to bolt up to. The oil pan (and oil pump pickup) were deeper but swapped easily. The front cover was quite different with the oil filter on the other side which interfered with the frame. I put a remote oil filter on as a work-around. The front cover couldn't be swapped from the D750 because the cooling passages in the block are different. The cooling plumbing had to be all custom made from copper pipe fittings to fit up to my old radiator - the in and out of the engine block (since it has a water pump) are in different places. The flywheel and starter were bigger but swapped over.
END)

so i can see why it may be a lot of hassle, but, the D950 engine i have been offered is more closely matched to th D750 than the unit above.
1) oil filter is in the correct place
2) spined pto shaft is present on the frount of crankshaft
3) timing cover looks to be similar & Hoses are prettywell the same
4) flywheel etc is the same as are the mounting holes to the belhousing.

so all in it seems to be a project worth looking into, half the issues have been adressed allready by the looks of things.

cheers
