Hello, first time listener first time caller. I recently adopted a neglected L2850 and nursed her back to health. Her previous owners abused her into a pale sickly thing and she needed a little surgery. I pieced together a new gauge panel from a few things I had laying around and I bought a new International/Case cable drive tachometer for her. My problem is that the tach is only running at half speed. So full throttle is reading 1250+/- RPMS, half throttle 600+/- RPMS. Idle seems fairly accurate at 350ish RPMS. My first inclination is to just remove the face panel from the tach and make a new one that is accurate, but the gauge is clamped together and made of some sort of indestructible material, so my attempts to remove the glass have proven unsuccessful. I don't want to destroy it either. I'm looking for ideas on how to solve the problem. Ì

You could try a black out approach to the existing scale.

Get a new sticky back label made that is the same size as the current glass but marked with the numbers you need at the proper location for the needle spot, cut the sticker so that the current numbers are covered by the sticker and app to the outside of the tachometer glass.

You can also use a tinytach if you prefer to be more precise with the RPMs, instead of trying to replace the cable drive version.
