I looked on the kubota parts list for my L260 and there looks like a gasket there but its listed as an o ring. My manual appears to says I take the crankcase cover off and clean it out during an oil change. Does anyone know about these? Thanks

It's a gasket it's just labeled wrong on the parts breakdown. ;)

You really only need to get in there if you haven't kept up on the oil changes or did a lot of really hard work with it. ;)
