I have a G1800 last fall the amp light came on this spring replaced the voltage regulator light still on, just recently replaced battery light still on, was suggested to replace the combo box next. I know where it is but what does it do and what does it have control over? I was told the alternator ( or whatever they are called on these ) do not go bad unless the bearings freeze up is this true? Would the combo box be the cause of it acting like it is not getting enough fuel times by not sending enough power to the pump or is that something different that I may have to tackle after the amp light issue. Just for the record I would almost have any other type of issue than an electrical one just always seems like so much try and try something else until you replace almost everything.

I know lots of issues covered here but just needing some more input on where to head next.

Hello there and welcome to the OTT!

Let's ignore the combo box for right now and focus on your electrical system real quick.

From reading your post you have replaced the regulator and battery. Your light remains on and you are having fuel pump issues.

Have you been experiencing battery charging issues with the old, and or, new battery?

When you replaced the regulator did you make sure the ground(s) are exceptionally good? It's a new regulator but could be using the same bad ground location.

Checking the drive belt for the dyno, how is the tension? Make sure it has not slackened and it is tight (but not too much).

Try removing the belt and turning the dyno by hand. It should turn fairly easy. Listen for any abnormal noises and binding.

Moving on with basic stuff......

With the engine running and a volt/ohm meter check the voltage from the battery connectors - not the actual terminals.
With the engine at a high rpm you should have aprox 13 or more volts.

I'm guessing you are actually having low voltage problems and it is affecting your fuel pump. Is there a way to access the electrical connections at or near the pump to check the supplied voltage?
