She was one TOUGH JEEP for sure, even survived being stolen 3 times and last one tossed into a creek.
Next best was my '73 JEEP Commando. Quite the upgrade, real cab, door, HEAT. Being 10" long wheelbase ,rode nice ( think CJ-7 girly ride) and plowed snow very, vert well.
Would love to get a Willys FC-150, google to see why, it'd be a blast plowing !

As documented in other threads I have front chains for plowing concrete, works great, BUT:
  • Ice on the concrete causes a loss of traction and without chains the front would slide constantly, possibly even when stopped.
  • I bought Euro (diamond pattern) chains to reduce bounce.
  • I drive slowly to not destroy the drive and equipment--that's necessary even with Euro chains.
  • I only use 4WD when necessary.
  • I keep the FEL in Float unless 1.) I'm plowing and 2.) need down-pressure to peel a layer of ice, but then the front will slide downhill unless angling the blade, and sometimes that doesn't help.
  • I try to think ahead in order to minimize the amount of work the tractor has to do.
You're situation likely differs so you'll need to evaluate your needs accordingly.

All work can be hard on a tractor, especially BX and B series where we tend to overwork them (at least I have). It's better to take it easy on the machine and not work it hard, though sometimes there's a demand that requires it, and from pulling preventative maintenance during hard jobs I'll say try to not overwork your tractor if possible.
