Hello:

Another Texas hot summer will be here sooner than I'm wishing for this year.

At 69 I can still handle the heat ok. But the dust when using the rotary cutter is real challenge for me.

Looking for some feedback on who has installed a canopy mounted fan. Please share some detail if you can.

Many thanks,

Rick

I’ve installed a few. Between several tractors, zero turn and even a side by side.
Still need to install one on my current tractor though. Depending on your ground speed the fan may make the dust worse. If you’re not “outrunning” the dust, it’s just blowing it all over you. Still recommend to have.

I used a generic 12” electric radiator fan. Every application I’ve done them on had a solid canopy, not one with a hole cut into it for a fan.
I made a lightweight frame from thin angle that the fan bolts to. It needs to be a few inches from the canopy to be able to pull air down.
I also added a full auxiliary fuse block(for other accessories also). Along with the appropriate fuses, switches, relays and wiring. Etc.

Same here. After one summer with the MX6000HST pulling a 7ft rotary cutter around my place and my friend's place (combined 30+ acres) I'd had enough of the heat, dust, noise and bugs. Before the summer was over I ordered an MX6000HSTC, put the open station MX up for sale, and then added another cabbed tractor in the form of an M6060. Now I pull a 12ft folding cutter around in the summer months with the M6060 and a flail with the MX.

I can honestly say that I've never regretted the switch to cabbed tractors. 😂 The weather and environmental challenges that are a big deal with an open station are completely negated when you have a cabbed tractor. Heat, humidity, cold, wind, rain, dust, bugs, snow, sleet, noise etc., all fade into oblivion with a cabbed tractor.
