I am wanting to put a fan in my diy canopy. My question is if I use a automotive electric cooling fan, what is the limit of the charging ability of the alternator on my L2501? Just don't want to kill the alternator. Thanks for any help!!

Most of these tractor alternators are only 40A…but there are a few optional at 70/90A.

The problem will not be your alternator (if you have an open-station tractor).

The problem will be that an automotive radiator cooling fan is designed to SUCK or Propel air thru a radiator-Shroud…. not push air downward onto You. I believe you will find it to be a mistaken plan, and that you will find only a barely-discernable breeze of Warm air and fan-Noise.
Why do I think that..??

.. Because I removed it and sent it back to the seller after I had that experience myself.

As TGHS pointed out, a portable “truckers fan” can be used to direct a better “blast of air” at your face or whatever, much simpler, cheaper, more effectively. IMO

Found on 'net - 40A alternator. Some people here have added fans. I'd check with them. One of the YouTubers I follow used electric fans on his rigs and it sure made a lot of noise.

I’ve added fans to all the tractors I’ve had. All the same 12” automotive fan 80W with no issues.
Although each one was wired through an auxiliary fuse block and separate relay.

When mounting it, make sure it has enough air space to be able to pull the air through it and actually move air. All of my installs are with solid canopy’s, not the ones advertised to work with a fan.

They are loud but if I’m going to be using the tractor for more than a few minutes I’m wearing hearing protection anyway
