I was using the BX2230 mower when I disengaged it to pick up some trash someone threw out while driving by my place. When I tried to start the mower again, nothing .... No noise, nothing apparently bent or broken, PTO shaft and U-joints look good so for.

Is there an 'idiot' switch I need to check out? I'm wondering if a seat 'operator present' switch could be causing this issue? The rear PTO runs fine with no noises to suggest something internal is broken. Are there any woodruff keys on the PTO shafts to check?

Other thoughts on what to check?

TIA,
Sid

Hi,
The seat safety switch kills the engine so it is not preventing the pto from turning.
Did you move the leaver to rear only and back to mid.
With it in rear only the mid will turn free.
With engine off, move it to mid while turning the shaft.
You should feel it connect.
I had a problem like this and somehow the gears were out of sync.
